Robert Lee Greathouse, 62, of Parkersburg, formerly of Boaz, went home to be with his Lord on Feb. 12, 2008, from Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 1, 1945, in Akron, Ohio, the only son of Orville and Helen Dotson Greathouse.
He was a 1966 graduate of Calhoun County High School. Robert was a devoted member of the Grand Central Avenue Church of Christ and member of the Prime Timers group of the church. He was retired from the Wood County Board of Education as custodian at Jackson Junior High School. He was also a graduate of the Charleston Barber College in 1967 and former employee of the W.Va. Department of Highways.
Surviving is his wife, Phyllis Carol Hixson Greathouse; two sons, Eric Robert Greathouse and his wife, Erin, of Vienna and Mark Allen Greathouse and his wife, Rachel, of Parkersburg; and a brother-in-law, Paul Hixson and his wife, Cindy, of Cambridge, Ohio. He loved and truly enjoyed his grandchildren, Destanie and Lauren Greathouse and Kierra, Emily and Malachi Greathouse. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Kenneth Hixson of Cambridge, Ohio; an uncle, Joe Dotson and his wife, Mary, of Lebanon, Tenn; and several cousins.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Grand Central Avenue Church of Christ in Vienna. Evangelist Joe Spivy will officiate and burial will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

The family prefers that memorial donations be made to the End Stage Renal Disease (Kidney Transplant) Association at CAMC in Charleston. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home, or to the Perpetual Care Fund at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens for the continuing upkeep of the cemetery. |
