Calhoun Middle School Girls hosted Walton Wednesday evening in their first round basketball tournament game. CMS started out sluggish in the first half and went in at halftime down by one.
In the third, CMS jumped all over Walton outscoring them 17-3. Despite shooting 8-26 from the free throw line, the Lady Devils defeated Walton 38-22 to advance to the CWVAC Final Four this weekend.
Scoring for CMS was Savannah Church with 14, Amber Wilford 13, Rochelle Gerwig 6, Tangie Cain 3, and Kenzie Laughlin added 2. Chelsea Heery, Brittany Norman, Bailie Cain, Carlena Craddock, Shayla Arnold all played but did not score.
CMS travels to Braxton County Armory Friday evening for a semifinal match-up with an opponent not known at this time.
