The Gilmer County Health Department offers the following services free of charge.
Free Family Planning:
Oral Contraceptives, 3 month Depo. Injection, Contraceptive Patch, Condoms, Pap Smear, Pelvic and breast exams
Free Breast and Cervical Cancer Screenings: (For ladies between the ages of 25-64 who do not need any type of birth control and are not covered by Medicare)
Pap smear, breast exam, Mammograms (for ladies 50 or older)
Free Immunizations: For children age 1 month to 18 years old (some vaccinations are available for ages 19 and above)
The Health Department also offers brochures and pamphlets on a variety of different health issues, as well as, Environmental and Public Health information; Threat Preparedness information literature.
In addition the Health Department offers Tuberculin Skin Testing, also known as PPD; as well as Food Handler's testing.
