| Bessie Allen Runnion Parsons, 101, of Charleston, formerly of Spencer, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 5, 2008.
She was born Friday, June 22, 1906, in Clay County, the daughter of the late Walter Lee Allen and the late Martha Ann Rose Allen Channels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Runnion and Herbert F. Parsons; stepfather, Eddie Channels; children, Howard Runnion and Dorothy Whiting; brothers, Everett Channels, Roy Channels, Archie Channels and Robert Allen; sisters, Ann Allen, Edna Schreckengost and Bernice Carrico.
Bessie was an active 50 year member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Charleston and a retired sales clerk for the O.J. Morrison Dept. Store, Charleston.
Survivors include one sister, Edith "Dodie" Westfall of Reedy; special niece and nephew, Susan Cooper of St. Albans and Lyle Austin of Barberton, OH; many other nieces and nephews; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. in the Asbury United Methodist Church, Charleston, with the Rev. Dr. Eileen Dumire officiating. A graveside service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred to either the Asbury United Methodist Church, 501 Elizabeth St., Charleston, WV 25311 or to the Gideons.
John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
