CALHOUN-CONNECTED YOUTH "FACES OF HEART"

(02/11/2008)
Jackson General Hospital in Ripley, WV, will host the First Annual Jackson County Heart Walk and Go Red for Women's Heart Health Campaign.

The event will be held at Ripley High School gymnasium on Saturday, February 16th from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

As the "Honorary Chair" of the Jackson County Heart Walk, Bailey's banner will be prominently displayed. Bailey, the son of Scott and Alisha McEndree Lawson, and grandson of former Grantsville residents Glenn and Bobbi McEndree, underwent heart surgery in 2002 at the age of 3 weeks.

Bailey and his mother have been invited to attend the Heart Walk Masquerade Ball in Charleston on February 23 as honored guests.

The American Heart Association has chosen ten children throughout West Virginia for a campaign to raise awareness of heart defects-disease in children. They have made banners of Bailey and the nine other children. All ten banners will be displayed at any Heart Walk in WV in the next year. "Bailey's banner is five feet tall and three feet wide, bigger than life," says granddad, Glenn.

Chances are being sold for a Valentine's Basket and WVU/Seton Hall basketball game tickets. The proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association. Chances are $1 each or 6 for $5. Drawing for the basketball tickets will be February 9. Drawing for the Valentine's basket will be February 16. Please contact Glenn McEndree if you would like additional information or to purchase chances at 304-927-6101 or email gmcendree@verizon.net
