It was all over very early Friday night in Glenville.

Gilmer County came out smoking and Calhoun came out fouling and the result was Calhoun's two leading scorers and rebounders - Josh DeWeese and Andrew Norman - were on the bench for most of the first quarter with two fouls apiece.

And while they were the Titans went inside time and time again to outscore the Red Devils 26-4 in the first quarter en route to a 63-21 victory.

With the 6-4 DeWeese and the 6-1 Norman on the bench the Titans went inside again and again to 6-4 Doug Shattuck, who got 17 of his game high 10 points in the first quarter.

When the Red Devils got their starters back in the middle two quarters they played nearly on even terms with the 10-4 Titans as Gilmer enjoyed a 25-16 advantage over that stretch.

Early in the fourth quarter Norman picked up his fourth foul and Calhoun coach Tim Moore pulled his starters and Gilmer hammered the reserves to the tune of 12-1 to make the slaughter complete.

DeWeese led 0-15 Calhoun with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Norman added four, Justin Gerwig two and Josh Cain one.

James Farley backed Shattuck with 12 points while Jordan Knight added 11.

Gilmer also won the junior varsity game by a 67-18 count. Dennis Dye led the 0-13 Red Devils with five while Tyler Bennett added four. Chuck Kendall, Harold McCumbers, Jordan Panarello and Greg Myers had two points each while Cai Clothier added one. Quentin Murphy, Anthony Richards, Joe Overbaugh, Daniel Sims and Stuart Fitzwater all played but did not score.

Noah Kinder led Gilmer with 11 while Frank Hosey and Sam Dennison added 10 each for the 8-4 Titans.

Calhoun will attempt to get that elusive first win when it travels to Clay Tuesday.
