Calhoun County has a new Prosecuting Attorney.
Shelly Morris DeMarino, a Glenville resident, was sworn in this afternoon by County Clerk Richard Kirby.
"This is an opportunity for me to return to the work that I love," she said.
DeMarino, who has ten years prosecutorial experience, was one of three candidates interviewed by the Calhoun Commission for the unexpired term created by the resignation of Matt Minney.
DeMarino will serve in the position until the end of the year, but she has also filed to run as a Democrat for the four year term.
Clerk Richard Kirby said shortly after DeMarino was sworn-in, "There was a line of officials seeking her assistance."
The Gilmer woman is a former prosecutor in that county and was an assistant prosecutor in Harrison County. |
