Calhoun Middle School Girls Basketball A-team avenged an early season loss by defeating visiting Wirt County 37-23. Leading the attack for CMS was Savannah Church with 15, Amber Wilford 14, and Kenzie Laughlin 8.
CMS B-team was defeated by Wirt County 32-10. Scoring for CMS was Shayla Arnold and Carlena Craddock with 4, and Brittany Norman with 2.
On the following night, CMS hosted a tough team from Clay County. CMS A-team battled early and was only down seven at the half. Clay County came out hot in the third quarter, outscoring CMS A-team 14-4, never being able to recover. CMS A-team fell to a well balanced and skilled Clay County team 44-25, making record now 7-4. Scoring for CMS was Kenzie Laughlin with 9, Amber Wilford 8, Savannah Church and Rochelle Gerwig chipped in 4.
In the game of the night, CMS B-team battled Clay County throughout only to come up short by a score of 24-22. Leading the way for the B-team was Shayla Arnold with 10, Carlena Craddock 8, and Brittany Norman 4.
CMS Girls will travel to Spencer on Tuesday, January 29, and to Clay County on the Wednesday the 30th.
