HUNTINGTON FACTORY CLOSING WITH 130 JOBS LOST

(01/14/2008)
As economic forecasters are worried about the USA going into recession, more West Virginia jobs are being lost.

Gov. Joe Manchin said last week in his State of the State address, that jobs are increasing in the Mountain State.

SNE Enterprises is closing its doors in Huntington because of a major slowing in housing.

The closure will put 130 employees out of work. The plant will close in May.

The plant makes vinyl windows and patio doors for homes, and had been located at the Huntington Industrial Park for 10 years.

In Beverly, WV, Armstrong World Industries says it's going to lay off workers at its flooring plant.

A spokeswoman for the Lancaster, Pa.-based manufacturer blames the sinking housing market for the layoffs. Armstrong makes flooring, ceiling and cabinet products.
