Judge Thomas Evans III reduced bond yesterday for Christopher Todd Smith, 37, of Grantsville, who has been held in Central Regional Jail since he was arrested last week following indictments in Calhoun Circuit Court.
Smith's bond was reduced from $50,000 cash only to $25,000, with a stipulation he cannot use his grandmother's property for the surety bond.
He is charged with misuse of assets of an elderly person, reportedly his grandmother, Cosetta Smith of Grantsville.
Smith has been charged with the possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and a conspiracy count related to that charge.
Smith was initially arrested by the Grantsville Police Department, who discovered he possessed a considerable amount of marijuana. Officers also charged Smith with shooting a pellet gun at a Charleston Gazette newspaper carrier.
Smith was represented by Spencer attorney Joshua Downey.
