Ira J. Adams, 74, of Elizabeth, passed away Oct. 16, 2001, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital, after an extended illness.
He was born March 2, 1927, in Greenwood, son of the late Ira Thomas and
Pearl Cross Adams. He attended Mt. Hope Church on Windy Ridge and was a
Methodist by faith. He retired from welding, masonary and boiler maker work.
In his retirement years, he was an avid wood worker and clock maker.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Beckner Adams; five daughters,
Zandra and Bruce Wyrick of Logan, Ohio, Naomi Adams of St. Petersburg,
Fla., Phyllis and Charles Bibbie of Elizabeth, Loretta and Roger Dailey of
Bellville, Ohio, and Sharlene and Steve Richards of Mineral Wells; six sons,
Wayne and Paula Adams of Cleveland, Ohio, Randolph Adams of Parkersburg,
Ricky and Terri Adams of Cottageville, W.Va., Staff Sgt. Richard Adams and
Kyung of Sole Korea, Roger and Angela Adams of Parkersburg, and Staff Sgt.
Raymond Adams and ShiAnn of Fort Benning, Ga. He was a loving grandfather
of 27 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Paul Thomas Adams; three brothers,
Russell, Hayward and Alfred Adams; and one sister, Vearl Thomich.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home of
Elizabeth, with the Rev. Dennis Heater officiating. Burial will be in the Adams
Cemetery of Doddridge County. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
