Major Kevin Landers (right) was recently promoted to Lieutenant Colonel at a ceremony held at Fort Bragg, NC. LTC Landers, husband of former Calhoun County resident Melody Morrison Landers is a 1990 graduate of the University of Georgia where he was a Distinguished Military Graduate.
Upon receiving his commission to 2nd LT in December 1990, LTC Landers began his military career. LTC Landers served in Somolia, Desert Storm and Iraq's War on Terrorism during his 17 year career. LTC Landers is expected to return to Iraq in February 2008 with the 20th Engineer Brigade, Headquartered at Al Faw Palace, Iraq.
Currently, LTC Landers is the Executive Officer of the 30th Engineer Battalion and the Deputy Brigade Commander of the 20th Engineer Brigade, Ft Bragg, NC. Upon his return to NC in May 2009, LTC Landers has already been chosen as the 27th Engineer Battalion Commander, effective June 2009.
During his career, he has served also as a Combat Engineer Company Commander and Deputy Inspector General while stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri.
LTC Landers and his wife Melody currently reside in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He has 4 children, Kevin Jr, Megan, Amanda, and Justin all of Fayetteville, and two stepchildren, Kyle Wilson of Fayetteville, and Kayla Wilson of Big Springs, West Virginia.
