ROANE HIGH'S IMPRESSIVE STATE-OF-THE-ART TV PRODUCTION

(01/10/2008)
Some students at Roane County High School are getting a real flavor of television news and communication.

WSAZ-TV says their Raider Television station has continued to grow over the years and, in fact, is now quite state of the art.

Instructor Janet Kerby has long held a vision which has become reality in getting students involved in electronic communication, from in-house TV production, cable TV programming and high-tech website development.

Studio TV cameras even have TelePrompTers and the kids say it's exciting to get to try out a number of different jobs.

A plan down the road, will have some of their's and other high schools' work shown on WSAZ's web-channel.

Kerby says Raider Television helps the students prepare for their future, regardless of a career path.

Later this month three Roane County High School students are flying out to California for a TV competition.
