The year 2007 is ending in West Virginia with rainfall anywhere from three to seven inches short of normal years.
The good news is, National Weather Service Meteorologist Fred McMullen says in recent weeks, the weather has taken a turn at putting an end to extremely dry conditions.
McMullen said it has been a long, dry, hot summer.
He said using Charleston as an example, West Virginia's Capitol City will likely finish the year at more than six inches below the average for rainfall totals.
The norm is 43 to 44 inches of rainfall. For 2007, that total will likely be at around 36 inches for total rainfall.
McMullen said February 2007 was one of the coldest on record and September 2007 was one of the hottest. |
