James A. Blankenship, 67, of Elizabeth, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Nitro, W.Va., the son of the late Dorr Blankenship and
Maxine Moore Blankenship Pennington. He was an Army veteran of 22 years,
having served in Korea, Thailand, France, Germany and Okinawa, also
in the States at Texas, Alabama and Boston.
Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Nancy Zapf Blankenship; two daughters,
Katherine Blankenship of Clarksburg, W.Va., and Kay (Ernest) Ornellas of
Charleston, W.Va.; a sister, Kay Lanier of Fayetteville, N.C.; and two
grandchildren, Jennifer and Jared Ornellas.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth
with the Rev. William Delmas Stutler officiating. Burial will be in the
Mt. Pleasant Cemetery (Ground Hog) of Wirt County.
Friends may call from
4-9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Sunday at the
funeral home.
