The former head of West Virginia-American Water, now owned by an international conglomerate, has been named executive director of the West Virginia Water Development Authority.
Gov. Joe Manchin announced Chris Jarrett's appointment yesterday, saying Jarrett's knowledge and experience will help the authority make informed decisions.
The agency is in charge of making public decisions regarding the disposition of the state's water resources.
Jarrett will now oversee the state's largest privatized water company, which he formerly headed.
Jarrett retired from West Virginia-American Water in 2006 after working 36 years for the company.
