GSC GOLFING STAND-OUT ON PGA

(12/04/2007)
Former Glenville State golf standout Bob Sowards secured a 2008 card on the PGA Tour by virtue of his 23rd place tie at the tour's Q-School.

Sowards, the 1989 and 1990 WVIAC Player of the Year, carded a 90-hole total of 418. The 14-under par score was just good enough to clinch a spot on the PGA Tour as the top 25 players, plus ties, earn cards for next season. Sowards' 4-under par 68 on Monday saw him record a clutch eagle at the par-5 17th hole.

The three-time WVIAC Championship medalist was named to the Glenville State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. He claimed the 2004 PGA Club Professional Championship and has made ten career PGA Tour starts.
