Thelma Wyer, 77, of Normantown, West Virginia passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at her home.
Born in Gilmer County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Avery and Viola Umstead Wood. She was a former employee of Kenny Shoe Company and Rubber Fabricators, Inc. and was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Roane General Hospital in Spencer, and was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, William Henry Shaffer and his wife Bonnie of Parkersburg, David Wood and his wife Julie of Grantsville; a daughter, Thelma Collins and her husband William of Parkersburg; brother, Odell of Stumptown; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Melvin H. Shaffer, Sr.; 3 brothers, Guy Wood, Warren Romeo Wood, and Thomas Avery Wood, Jr.; 2 sisters, Belva Carpenter, and Maggie Burrows.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, November 24 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Interment will be in the Collins Community Cemetery at Stumptown.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday.
