Macy's Great American Marching Band will play the opening fanfare for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 22, beginning at 9 a.m.
The Parade will be televised on NBC. Briana Blankenship, a senior at Calhoun County High School, will be representing Calhoun County and West Virginia. She is the daughter of Rick and Terry Blankenship of Grantsville.
Mrs. Faye Chambers, music teacher at Calhoun High, accompanied Briana to New York. Briana will be one of only three playing first trumpet parts in this fanfare.
In the marching formation Briana can be seen third person on the right, second row from the front. The band will be stepping off from Central park at 9 a.m. and will arrive at Herald Square approximately 10 a.m. They will perform in front of celebrity hosts, a grand stand audience, and more than 50 million TV viewers watching the broadcast live.
During the band's Herald Square performance Briana can be seen from the middle of the Macy's Star that is painted on the street, in the second row of band members, third person on the left of the star.
Mrs. Chambers will also accompany the band marching through the parade, but her position will not be known until parade time.
Briana and Mrs. Chambers will return to Calhoun County on Friday, November 23.
