Following five decades of operation in Ravenswood, the Ravenswood Specialty Services Plant is closing today.
Ravenswood Mayor Lucy Harbert says the plants owners, Bo Hartley, and his father before him, have been stalwarts in their support of the community.
"We just don't know all of the behind the scene things, because I'm sure he would not want to be doing this," said Mayor Harbert, but part of the problem is likely competition with the global market.
At least 100 workers are out of a job.
The death knell was the loss of a contract with DuPont.
