BRAXTON MAGISTRATE PLEADS NOT GUILTY

(10/23/2007)
A suspended Braxton County magistrate will go on trial in January for allegedly planning retaliation against a state witness.

Braxton County Magistrate Carolyn Cruickshanks pleaded not guilty during an arraignment Monday in Sutton on the criminal charges.

Cruickshanks was arrested earlier this year after she allegedly conspired with her son, Jordan Grubb, to give information to inmates at the Central Regional Jail about another inmate who testified against Grubb in a drug case.

The magistrate, who is free on bond, was suspended without pay after her arrest.
