CHLOE MAN CHARGED WITH BATTERY ON OFFICER

(10/09/2007)
A Chloe, Calhoun County man was arrested late last Friday after he allegedly caused problems while in custody at Minnie Hamilton Health System in Grantsville.

He was charged with disorderly conduct and battery on an officer.

Danny Lee Knicely, 36, had reportedly been in a situation earlier in the evening at a Chloe residence, wielding a knife, at one time allegedly on himself.

The Calhoun Sheriff's Department and two units of the State Police responded to the incident.

Knicely was taken to MHHS for a mental hygiene evaluation.

Deputy Justin Metheney says Knicely became belligerent in the emergency room and started making threats toward officers.

The police report says Deputy Metheney asked Knicely numerous times to place his hands behind his back.

The report says Knicely would not comply, striking at Metheney, who used pepper spray on the man.

"The officer then attempted to take the accused to the floor to be restrained and the accused did resist," with the officer "using enough force to make the arrest."
