Eight Glenville State College musical groups were featured in a Tuesday night performance at the Fine Arts Center. About 300 area residents attended the concert.

Lloyd Bone, acting Fine Arts chairman, announced the recent approval of a new multi-faceted 4-year music degree, which includes a Bluegrass specialization, may be the only one of its kind in the U.S. Other areas of focus include voice and performance.

Groups performing included the Glenville State College Jazz Band under the direction of Donna Maher.

The Chamber Singers and Concert Choir performed under the direction of Carol Benton.

Benton extended an invitation for everyone to attend the upcoming Madrigal Feast at the Alan B. Mollohan Center on November 9. It will be a musical celebration of the Christmas season complete with Renaissance costumes with a theatrical flare.

The GSC Percussion Ensemble took the stage, performing selections which included a 'James Bond 007' theme, arranged by GSC professor John McKinney, who also directs the percussion groups.

Donna Maher returned to the stage with the GSC Woodwind Ensemble.

Brandi Horn, a member of the GSC Woodwind Ensemble, was featured soloist on alto sax. She's also Drum Major of the Pioneer Marching Band.

And Buddy Griffin, the "Dean" of Glenville State College bluegrass, was on hand with the GSC Bluegrass Band. A light-hearted Griffin told the crowd, as he announced the group, that he moonlighted as a GQ model.
