Ruth Gertrude "Gert" Rhodes, 83, of Kenna, West Virginia, died Sunday, September 30, 2007, in Select Specialty Hospital, Charleston.
She was born March 19, 1924, at Higby, Roane County, a daughter of the late Jacob Floyd and Dolly Jane Cobb Hersman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Estil "Buck" Rhodes.
She was a homemaker, wife, and mother who enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and William Davis of Kenna, Helen and Terry Lightle of Beaver Falls, PA; grandchildren, Cathy and Michael Reed, Rhonda and Mark Wittmer, Donnie Davis, Brandy Lightle, and Cody Lightle; great grandchildren, Christopher Hersman, Anthony Wittmer, and Brooklyn Wittmer; two sisters, Tressie Jones of Gandeeville, and Ruby Petrackis of Lakin.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 6, at 1:00 p.m. in the Wolfe Creek Baptist Church near Vicars with Robert Hargus officiating. Burial will be in the Hunt Cemetery, Vicars.
Friends may call at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, Friday from 6-8 p.m. and at the church one hour before the funeral. |
