A federal grand jury has indicted Roger Dean Chapman, 30, accused of attempting to rob the Traders Bank of Spencer.
He is also charged with assaulting bank employee David Boothe.
The indictment says, Chapman "by force violence and intimidation" tried to take money belonging to the bank, which is insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The indictment further states that Chapman, "did knowingly and intentionally assault certain employees of the Traders Bank, and put in jeopardy the life of another person by use of a dangerous weapon."
The charges carry a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Chapman was arrested shortly after the September 6th incident and is being held in Central Regional Jail.
