Once again Wal-Mart is the Number 1 private employer in West Virginia, employing 12,734, a spot it has held since 1999.
Workforce West Virginia says boards of education are the largest employers in 35 of the state's 55 counties, including Calhoun.

In the state's top ten, coming in second was West Virginia University Hospitals with 7,566 employees.
Charleston Area Medical Center came in third with 4,745 employees.
Rounding out the top five were Kroger with about 3,200, and American Electric Power with 2,847.
The next five largest employers are Eldercare Resources Corp., Lowe's Home Centers Inc., CSX, Pilgrim's Pride Corp. and St. Mary's Hospital. |
