The first 2007-2008 Saturday Fun and Learning Day sponsored by Heads Up, GEAR UP and the Parent-Educator Resource Center was held on Saturday, September 22nd at Calhoun Middle-High School.
Breakfast was served to all participants and then parents attended a session conducted by the Parent-Education Resource Center entitled Loving Guidance. Jean Simers, Heads Up Coordinator, gave information about the Heads Up program and Joyce Williams provided information about GEAR UP.
Afterward everyone enjoyed lunch catered by the Middle School Boosters.
There were approximately 112 students and 73 adults in attendance on Saturday with the following parents winning door prizes: $20 Pit Stop gift cards from Heads Up: Nikki Boatright, Anita Fitch, Shena Heiney; GEAR UP packs were won by Catherine Helmick and Becky Boothe and GEAR UP shirts were won by Janet Summers and Emily Platthy.
The parents and children who attend five of the eight sessions are eligible for a trip in May 2008. Parents in attendance at the October 27th Saturday Fun and Learning day will vote on where the group will go on their trip.
