EMS personnel assist Ohio woman, a victim of the sharp Carroll Turn
Calhoun had three vehicle accidents yesterday, sending only one person to the hospital.
A 1993 Buick driven by an Ohio woman failed to negotiate the sharp Carroll turn on Rt. 5 near Big Bend, knocking a telephone pole and cable into the highway.
Calhoun EMS responded to the scene with the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department at 3:25 p.m. The woman declined medical care.

Grantsville firemen dutifully flagged traffic for over four hours waiting for a Frontier Phone pole truck to arrive from St. Marys.
Local Frontier workers can not provide the service.

A White Pine man, reportedly about 65-years-old, was taken to Minnnie Hamilton Health System by Calhoun EMS after his vehicle went 100-150 feet over a hill.
The Grantsville VFD and Deputy Justin Metheney responded to the accident at 1:48 p.m.
Trooper 1st Class Jeff Hunt and Calhoun EMS responded to what appeared to be a truck going over the hill near the intersection of Pine Creek Rd. at Mt. Zion, Rt. 16. The driver left the scene in the vehicle.
An eight-year-old girl was bit on the head and face by a dog at 5:27 p.m. at a residence along Rt. 16, just south of Arnoldsburg.
Calhoun EMS responded to the scene and took the youth to Roane General Hospital, reportedly suffering from lacerations and a puncture wound to the face. |
