Glenville, WV - Glenville State College will be a busy place during the weekend of September 14 &15 as lots of folks are expected to visit for the Family & Friends Weekend. A variety of fun and informational activities are planned for Friday and Saturday including games, grub, and get togethers. According to Kipp Colvin, Director of Student Activities at GSC, this is the first time a Family & Friends Weekend has been held at the school in fifty years. "The weekend is an opportunity for families and friends to learn more about what students experience at Glenville State College." said Colvin.
On Friday registration for the weekend will be held in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Lobby from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Maps, name tags, and sign ups for special events will be available. Family fun inflatable games, crazy games of skill and luck, will take place on the Clark Hall lawn between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. A campus Carnival will take place in the Amphitheatre from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. where you can find out more about student clubs and organizations. There will be a 'Question and Answer Session' with GSC staff members from 3:00 p.m. to 5:0 p.m. on the third floor of the MCCC. Everyone is invited to the Blue & White Dinner at the View at Mollohan's Restaurant, served from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a cost of just $5.00. The evening's activities include a Bluegrass Jam at the Rusty Musket from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., featuring the award winning GSC Bluegrass Band. Friday wraps up with an outdoor movie at 8:00 p.m. on the Clark Hall lawn. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks, and enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End.
Saturday's schedule begins with a hearty breakfast at the View at Mollohan's between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. for only $5.00. A tour of the GSC campus will start at 9:30 a.m. from the Mollohan Center Lobby. Everyone is invited to enjoy a cookout and meet other friends and families at the Tailgate Party at I.L. Morris stadium starting at 11:00 a.m. The weekend culminates with the big football game as the Pioneers battle Shepherd University at 1:00 p.m. at Morris stadium.
