Several units of the Grantsville VFD responded to an
alarm at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center early today
An automatic fire detector reported a fire at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center early today, but members of the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department could not find a fire.
The department was dispatched at 12:30 a.m. Saturday to the school located along Rt. 5 east of Grantsville at the Calhoun-Gilmer line.
Firemen quickly responded to the scene.
Heavy fog from the Little Kanawha River, which looked to be smoke added to the incident. Firemen said their appeared to be a "smell of something burning" when they entered the building.
School personnel arrived at the building about 1 a.m. to check the electrical systems.
