REALLY! - You Can't Make This Stuff Up

(08/15/2007)
A man whom police say tried to rob a liquor store in Ashland, Kentucky Friday used Duct Tape to disguise his identity.

Some criminals are caught on tape
but, this one was caught "in tape"

Twenty-four year old Kasey G. Kazee, entered Shamrock Liquors with his entire head wrapped, mummy-style, with the multi-purpose adhesive tape.

They say Duct Tape has thousands of uses. Even in fashion, hats, purses, wallets, belts, book bags, guitar strings and other accessories are being made with the tape, which now comes in dozens of bright, fashionable colors. But who woulda thunk...well, besides Mr. Kazee...to use it to fashion a robbery mask?

According to police, Kazee entered the store through its main entrance, walked up to the cash register and threatened to do bodily harm to the female clerk if she didn't give him money. The clerk complied and Kazee turned and left the building on foot.

But Kazee was more-or-less "stuck." Store employee Craig Miller and a customer, were right behind him. Miller tackled Kazee near the store, bringing him to the pavement. With the help of a few others, Kazee was detained until law enforcement arrived.

Officers were understandably amused by Kazee's disguise, saying they'd seen about everything from pantyhose to cardboard boxes used, but never Duct Tape.

The "Duct Tape Bandit" was lodged in the Boyd County, Kentucky Detention Center, charged with one count of first-degree robbery.

Despite being caught red-handed, he now claims he is not the man.

"Duct Man" has been on about every TV news show in the USA.
