Wilford Ward Swart, 81, of Creston, W.Va., passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at his residence, surrounded by family.
Ward was born Aug. 31, 1925, in Vinton County, Ohio, the son of the late Edward and Gladys Phillips Swart and was a retired pipefitter with Babcock and Wilcox after 30 years of service in 1978. He attended God's House of Worship in Elizabeth, W.Va.
Surviving is his wife, Virginia M. Greathouse Swart; children, Rodney G. Swart, Judy Combs, Kathy (Joe) Flohr, Waneta Lockhart, Louis (Jen) Lockhart, Geneva (Dan) Metz, Greg (Sandy) Lockhart, Marshall (Rose) Lockhart, Dinah (James) Jewell, Teresa Lockhart and Mark (Teresa) Lockhart; sister, Leola Markin of Athens, Ohio; 27 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by two brothers, Delver "Dobe" and Orville "Babe"; a sister, Reba Stanley; and a granddaughter.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home of Elizabeth with Pastor Raymond Gum officiating. Burial will be in the Bryner Chapel of Memory at Joker. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of the service. |
