A Calhoun resident has reported a big foot sighting in Calhoun near Arnoldsburg, reported on the Big Foot Field Researchers Organization web site.
According to the web site, at least 50 big foot sightings have been reported in West Virginia.
While the name and exact location is anonymous, the report says:
"My grandma went to my uncles house in North Carolina for two weeks so my wife and I said we would feed her dog and keep check on her house while she was away. We only live about 3/4 of a mile from her house."
"My wife and daughter went over to feed the dog. My wife was on the back porch and my daughter ran around the house after the dog. As soon as she got out of sight, my wife heard her scream and she came running back. My wife run to her and heard some thing going trough the brush."
"My wife ask her what happened and my daughter said a monkey growled at her and ran in to the woods. Later she said it was a little one with its mom."
"I don't know what it was but my daughter was really scared. We live in a wooded area and sees bears and a lot of other animals and she said it looked like a monkey."
"I myself about 5 years ago was riding a 4-wheeler in a big snow and saw big foot prints in the snow going across a field. The snow was about 8" deep, nothing was disturbed around the prints, but I could not jump from one print to the other."
It is very wooded, but there is a few houses around my grandma who lives on about 80 acres. I live on 54. The neighbor has 1200 acres and there is a hunting club of about 15,000 acres. There is a creek about 200 yards from her house and lots of hills."
BFRO Investigator Stephen Willis called the Calhoun subject, and reported:
"Talked to the witness's father about his daughter's sighting. We discussed other things happening in the area which puzzled him. He has cut several trees from a riding trail which nobody else uses. The trees are pushed over in such a location that its impossible for a horse to walk around them."
I asked about deadfall which would accompany windstorms around the downed trees. He reported that there was very few smaller limbs near the road blocks. He has heard unusual cries and screams, not at all like bobcats or mountain lions with which he is familiar.
The child entered a computer room while her father was looking at the BFRO website. She noticed the opening screen and remarked, "That's the monkey I saw!"
