Irene E. Johnson. 80, of Grantsville, WV, died Monday at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital,
Parkersburg.
Born in Wood County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Jessie Myrtle Calhoun
Cooper. She was retired from B.F. Goodrich Corporation in 1986 and served in the Foster
Grandparents Program at Pleasant Hill Elementary School, Grantsville, and was a
Methodist.
Surviving are three sons, Donald W. Johnson and his wife Helen, Mark P. Johnson and his wife
Rebecca and Lewis Johnson all of Grantsville; a daughter, Phyllis J. Malona and her husband
Jerry of Grantsville; two brothers, Harold Cooper and his wife Cleo of Newark, Ohio; Ritchie
Cooper and his wife, Bealuah of Elizabeth, WV; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Okey Johnson; a son, Charles E.
Johnson; two brothers, Raleigh and Bernie Cooper.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Reverend
Larry Jones will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial
contributions be made to the Irene E. Johnson Memorial Fund for victims of the World Trade
Center Disaster, in care of Calhoun Bank, Grantsville, WV 26147
