Funeral arrangements have been made for State Police Cpl. Marlo Gonzales who died Wednesday night from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Gonzales, 39, was a native of Calhoun and was a graduate of Calhoun High School with the class of 1986.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Teays Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held there on Sunday at 3 p.m. Gonzales will be buried at Valley View Cemetery in Hurricane.
He was the son of Angelina Whipkey of Boca Raton, Fla., and Russ Westover of Kansas City, Mo.
Marlo was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was a West Virginia State Trooper for 13 years. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a fan of football altogether. He also had a love for hunting.
Cpl. Gonzales is survived by wife, Angel Gonzales; children, Adam Gonzales of Huntington and Aaron and Jacob Gonzales of Hurricane; and brothers, Bobby Lopez of Fort Campbell, Ky., and Joey Whipkey of Arizona. Also surviving are his father- and mother-in-law, Franklin C. and Carolyn Kay McCallister of Hurricane.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to The Gonzales Children's Fund, payable to Kay McCallister, c/o Putnam County Bank, P.O. Box 308, Hurricane, WV 25526.
