Auto clips pole and lands in creek
A large electric pole was sheared-off after it was struck by a car on Phillip's Run shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday, the car landed in the creek.
Matt Kirby of Mt. Zion received minor injuries in the crash, although the vehicle was heavily damaged.
Kirby was traveling on Rt. 16 about the time a small rain began to fall on the area.
After the electric company came to replace the pole, electric service was off to part of the county about four hours.
Responding to the call was the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department and Deputy Sheriff Justin Metheney.
Kirby, a member of the Grantsville VFD, continued to respond to other emergency calls after his accident.
