Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito has requested $6 million for Mustang Survival, an Elizabeth plant, to help increase the number of employees by producing "quick-on anti-exposure suits for Air Force flight crews."
Her request was part of 36 earmark requests submitted to the House Appropriations Committee for Fiscal Year 2008.
Capito, who went public with her earmark list, said "I am not anti-earmark, nor do I believe the word 'earmark' should be a dirty word."
The earmark is yet to be approved.
If it would come through, Mustang could add 20-40 jobs.
Mustang Survival has been in the process of expanding and doubling its workforce. The company has been making a significant investment in the Wirt County facilities.
