CLAY MAN GETS 21 YEAR SENTENCE FOR METH

A Clay County man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison on drug charges in federal court yesterday, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

Michael Edward Brown, 49, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 5 grams or more of methamphetamine last January.

Members of the Central West Virginia Drug and Violent Crime Task Force executed a warrant on Brown's home in August, 2006.

They seized more than 56 grams of methamphetamine and several drugs, according to a news release.

U.S. District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin issued the sentence.
