There is good news for West Virginia veterans hoping to be housed in the brand new Veteran's Nursing Home in Harrison County.
The long-awaited facility is set to accept patients within 30 days.
Larry Linch, who is the Director of Veteran's Affairs for West Virginia, has been working on securing funding and getting the 120-bed facility built since he was a member of the House of Delegates.
He's almost reached his goal of moving in patients. He says, they won't be filling all the beds at one time.
The plan is to only bring in 14-16 patients at first.
"We're not going to overload the staff. Initially we're going to do this slowly and meticulously and hopefully it will work better that way," says Linch.
The Department of Veteran's Affairs has come under fire for taking so long to complete the project.
Almost all the final touches on the $26 million project are complete.
