Virginia Katheryn Davis Hathaway, 82, of Spencer, died June 15, 2007, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after a short illness.
She was born February 19, 1925, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Jesse and Lula Smith Davis. She was a homemaker and a seamstress with Spencer Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spencer. A former resident of Speed, she was also a member of the Speed United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary, and her husband, Lawrence Newlon, of Greensburg, Pa.; one son, Jerry Hathaway and his wife, Linda, of Williamstown; one sister, Violet (Davis) Harbert of Ontario, Canada; granddaughters, Terri (Hathaway) and her husband, Kevin Welch, of Vincent, Ohio, Laura (Newlon) and her husband, the Rev. Phillip Elliott of Smithfield, Pa., and Amy (Newlon) and her husband, Matthew Bundy, of Vienna, Va.; grandson, Barry Hathaway and his wife, Maxie, of Suffolk, Va.; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Aaron Elliott of Smithfield, Pa., Kial, Chase and Collin Welch of Vincent, Ohio, and Gavin and Brooke Bundy of Vienna, Va.; and special friend and caregiver, Donna Lucas of Spencer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward Gale Hathaway; and brothers, Harold and Earl Davis.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2007, at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Mike King officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
