PICKENS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES FOUR

(06/01/2007)
West Virginia's smallest high school at Pickens has just graduated four seniors.

The remote mountain school has fought closure and consolidation for years, but recently a new school building was erected.

The award-winning Pickens High School held graduation ceremonies over the weekend for Norman Biggs, Lauren Gainer, Justin Kelley and Joseph Tucker.

Biggs plans to attend West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Gainer will be at Northern Virginia Community College and Tucker plans to go to Potomac State.

Kelley has decided to join the U.S. Army.

The Randolph County school holds grades from kindergarten through high school.

This year the school had 47 students.
