Jessie H. Hersman, 70, of Gandeeville, West Virginia, died Saturday, May 12, 2007, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
He was born March 25, 1937, at Vicars, Roane County, a son of the late Jacob Floyd and Dolly Jane Cobb Hersman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Brooks, Roy, Donald, Troy, James "Ab", and Oval Hersman; two sisters, Elva Fields and Wanda Hersman.
Jessie was a retired construction worker, a member of the United Steel Workers Union and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Patsy J. Payne Hersman; two daughters, Terry Milam of Ripley and Theda Nida of Spencer; one son, Jeffrey Hersman of Gandeeville; one brother, Rudie Hersman of Louisville, OH; five sisters, Tressie Jones and Berdiehl Smith both of Harmony, Ruby Petrackis of Ambler Ridge, Gertrude Rhodes of Advent and Hazel Collins of Reedy; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, May 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Larry Jones and the Rev. Ernest Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Gandeeville Cemetery, Gandeeville.
