SUIT OVER HUNTING SHOOTING - A Monongalia County man has filed a suit against another resident after he was shot while hunting.
Robert Thompson Jr. filed a suit in Monongalia Circuit Court against Curtis Davis. Thompson claims Davis shot him while the two were hunting in the same area.
The suit says in 2005, Thompson was hunting near Indian Creek Road in Monongalia County, an area where Davis was also hunting.
According to the suit, Davis negligently fired his gun and the shot hit Thompson.
Thompson says he has medical bills of more than $3,800.
Thompson seeks compensatory and punitive damages, as well as court costs and any other relief the court deems necessary.
BODIES FOUND IN HARRISON - An investigation is continuing in a case where a woman, approximately 45, and a man, approximately 48, were shot to death. The bodies were found inside a Harrison County trailer home Friday. Investigators said the two were in a relationship. Police have found what is a possible weapon in the case.
ARREST IN RALEIGH SHOOTING - Deputies have arrested a Cool Ridge man in a shooting in Raleigh County. Everett Cochran, 59, has been charged with unlawful wounding of Kenneth Baker.
Deputies said it appeared Cochran was standing on the front porch of his home when he shot Baker, who was in his truck.
Cochran is free on $5,000 bond.
UPSHUR TEENS SHOOTING HOAX - Upshur County Sheriff Virgil Miller says authorities are now looking back on how they handled a potentially dangerous call that a teacher had been shot at Buckhannon-Upshur High School.
The Sheriff says if another situation like this one were to arise they would try to notify families sooner, but keeping the students safe was their top priority.
The 911 center has released the prank call:
Caller: A teacher has been shot
Operator: Who?
Caller: A teacher got shot.
In the minute long tape the caller stated:
Caller: She's bleeding real bad. It's an emergency. You're gonna have to hurry.
Sheriff Miller says three teenage girls were taken into custody and have been charged.
SHOTS FIRED IN MARTINSBURG â Police said two of three bullets fired during a domestic disturbance inside a residence in Martinsburg entered a neighbors' home where children were present.
No one was wounded by the stray bullets, though a woman who was involved in the disturbance was taken to City Hospital for treatment because she cut her hands.
Police located about seven ounces of marijuana inside the residence where the shooting originated.
Danny Rhodes, 32, of 738 Winchester Ave., was charged with wanton endangerment with a firearm and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Britney Levier, 18, of the same address, was charged with domestic battery and obstructing an officer.
DATE ENDS WITH ROBBERY - A date ended with a Lesage man being robbed at gunpoint. He was then abandoned near Altizer Park in Huntington.
The 25-year-old victim told police he met his date about 9:30 p.m. and the two of them, along with another female, drove around in his date's vehicle until they picked up another woman and her boyfriend in Proctorville, Ohio.
Then, the five of them traveled to Altizer Park.
The other man riding in the vehicle pulled a gun and pointed it at the victim. The victim recalls the man ordering him to get out of the vehicle and leave his wallet.
He took $70.
The victim said it was the couple's second date.
WOOD MAN SENTENCED OVER FIREARMS - A Wood County man has been sentenced to almost 20 years in prison for being an armed career criminal in possession of a firearm, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
Edward C. Crow, 37, of Parkersburg, pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm in February, admitting to U.S. District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin that he had a 9mm pistol in July 2005.
Crow is a convicted felon, including two burglary convictions and one for aggravated assault. He was not allowed to possess a gun.
