Today in the Christian world we celebrate the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, many will say the most important figure in the history of mankind.
Some regard him as a fanatic, a figment of spiritual convenience, the son of God or a martyr who came to failure, grief and ruin after a stormy career as he reached out to the masses.
Those who are believers look upon Him as the central figure who forever changed the course of human history.
Jesus, the man-figure, walking, teaching and preaching, he gave us the greatest of lessons - why we yield to temptation, our very nature and why we make mistakes.
But most of all he taught understanding, acceptance and forgiveness.
He spoke for and embraced the outcasts, ignored and down-trodden, "the least of these my brethren."
In a world that rushes to war and violence, He was and is the Prince of Peace - although his life has been intoned as supporting "wars of the righteous."
He brought hope of rising above and living beyond that which exceeds human knowledge, experience and expectation, that we might overcome our self-made misery.
