MAN STABBED, BEER STOLEN - Kanawha deputies say a London man was stabbed and his attacker stole beer from him.
The incident happened early Saturday near railroad tracks in the eastern part of the county.
James Franklin Lykins, 38, said he was walking on the tracks about 3 a.m. when the man attacked him and stole a 12-pack of beer.
Lykins was treated for two cuts on his arm at Charleston Area Medical Center.
Police are looking for the attacker.
MERCER KNIFE AND GUN EVENT - Thirty-seven-year-old Luther Vane Byrd was shot early Sunday morning outside the home of a former girlfriend.
A large pocket knife was found in the victim's left hand.
Investigators caught up to the man believed to have fired the shot, but he was not placed under arrest.
Sheriff's detectives say the shooting appears to have been in self-defense.
DON'T KNOW NUTHIN' - Charleston police are investigating a stabbing that occurred early yesterday morning, but the victim won't cooperate.
Matthew D. Hairston is not talking about what happened to him.
Hairston had gone to a home on Red Oak Street and told the resident there that he had been stabbed.
Hairston would provide nothing more than his name and date of birth.
