Program explained to county residents
Representatives came to Calhoun Monday evening to explain the oral rabies
vaccination program, which involves pellets being dropped from the air over
a 21-county area. The pellets will be dropped from bright yellow aircraft,
covering a 15-30 mile wide corridor, mostly through central West Virginia.
The vaccination program
is to stop the spread of rabies, particularly in raccoons. Calhoun is currently
on the edge of the rabies outbreak.
The bait drop will take place from Monday, September 10 through Friday,
September 21. |
