The Calhoun Middle-High School Lights On! Announces the Fall Schedule of classes and
activities. All classes offered are free unless stated otherwise. To register contact the Lights
On! Office at 354-7595.
Baby sitting service will be provided during the evening classes. Please sign-up for this service
when you register. Class sizes are limited and registration is done on a first come first served
basis.
Household Chores Classes begin September 18 from 4-5:30 p.m. Classes will meet
for 10 weeks. Instructor, Bill Jarvis. Class offers basic skills to perform household
repairs.
Taking Better Pictures Classes begin September 18 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Classes will
meet for 6 weeks. Instructor, Richard Westfall. Introduction to photography, including theory,
composition, and practical, hands-on use of cameras.
Web Page Development Classes begin September 20 from 6:30-8 p.m. Classes will
meet one time weekly for 5 weeks. Instructor Richard Westfall. Participants will construct their
own web page.
Photo Scrap Booking Classes begin September 25 from 6-8 p.m. Classes will meet
one time weekly for 6 weeks. Instructor, Amanda Morris. Designing photo albums with various
use of given materials.
Beginning Sewing Classes begin October 15 through November 19 from 6-8:30 p.m. Classes will meet one
time weekly for 6 weeks. Instructor, Trina Beall. Become familiar with modern sewing
techniques. Students will make an apron using a pattern and sewing machine. All work will be done in class.
Eat Dessert First...Life is Uncertain Classes begin September 10 from 6-8 p.m. Classes will meet one
time weekly for 4 weeks. Instructor, Trina Beall. Preparing simple but elegant desserts. Each week participants will take their dessert home to share with their family. You may join the class at anytime.
Song Writing Classes begin October 17 from 7:30-9 p.m. Classes will meet one time
each week for 6 weeks. Instructor, Harry Beall. Fundamental elements of song writing Including
various structures, rhyme schemes, and chord and melody construction.
Intermediate Guitar and Music Theory Classes begin October 17 from 6-7:30 p.m.
Classes will meet one time each week for 6 weeks. Instructor, Harry Beall. Students will work
with chord progressions, strumming techniques, finger picking, scales, arpeggios.
Creative Arts Classes begin September 25 from 6:30-9 p.m. Classes will meet one
time weekly for 8 weeks. Instructor, Jo Mollendick. Class consists of three areas basket making,
water color painting and decorative painting.
Ceramics Classes will be offered on Tuesday during the months of January and
February. Starting date to be announced. Instructor, Leah Offutt. Students will learn techniques
of creating ceramics by the use of wheel thrown (pottery wheel), slab and hand built.
Photography Classes begin, November 1 from 6-9 p.m. Classes will be scheduled at
different times so field experience can be accomplished during daylight hours. Please inquire
about times upon registration. Instructor, Jeff Fetty. Students will explore and discover what is
required to go beyond the snapshot to make fine photos.
Adult Candle Making (Poured Candles) This is a one day class on September 8 at 10 a.m. at Calhoun Middle-High
School. The Class is being offered by Primitive Creations.
