Gladys Mae Lamb Peggs, 78, of Lower Cedar Creek Road, Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life March 4, 2007, at her residence following an extended illness with cancer and diabetes.
She was born July 5, 1928 in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late James Toral Lamb and Reta Elizabeth Wanstreet Puffenbarger Lamb.
She was a graduate of Tanner High School and attended Glenville State College, majoring in education. She was retired from Kenny Shoe Plant, she was a home health aid and a farmer. She was a Baptist and a member of Dawson Baptist Church of Glenville.
On June 26, 1950 she was united in marriage to Richard Gray Peggs, Sr., who preceded her in death on May 29, 1990, he was the son of Arch and Virgie Lattea Peggs. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by six brothers, Garnel Lamb, James Helbert Lamb, Clee Burl Lamb, Richard Dee Lamb, Ronald Lee Lamb, and James Earl Lamb; and one half brother, Everett Puffenburger; two sisters, Elma Jean Lamb and Marie A. Lamb; and one brother-in-law, Charles E. Marks.
Surviving are one son, Richard Gray Peggs, Jr., of Glenville, and one daughter, Glennis Mae Peggs also of Glenville; granddaughters, Nichole Lynn Roberts of Glenville, Carlena Jo Roberts Kerby and husband Bill of Calhoun County, and Sarah Elizabeth Roberts of Glenville; great grandsons, John Paul Cottrill, II, Zachary Lynn Roberts, Austin Wells Clark all of Glenville, and Gunner Bastin Roberts of Calhoun County; one great granddaughter, Athina Willow Clark of Glenville.
Also surviving, one brother, John Avon and wife Naomi (Marks) Lamb of Beech City, Ohio; and one sister, Eva Lamb Marks of Cedarville; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Marks Lamb of Beech City, Euna Peggs Childers of Glenville, and Bea Peggs Jones and husband Chester of Calhoun County; two brothers-in-law, Paul and wife Patty (Manley-Phillips) Peggs of Glenville, and Bruce and wife Cheryl (Williams) Peggs of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, WV, with Elder George Rose officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in the Pisgah Cemetery, DeKalb, Gilmer County, WV.
