If you're getting a natural gas bill from Dominion Hope, you'd better check your bill.
The company says a computer glitch is being blamed for inflated natural gas bills that Dominion Hope sent to about 15,000 customers.
Some of the bills were several hundred dollars higher.
Dominion spokesperson Bob Fulton says the estimated bills are calculated based on a concept called "heating degree days" and customers' usage the previous year.
Somehow, the computer based its estimates on this year's cold weather instead of last year's temperatures.
Dominion Hope is reading customers' meters to get the actual usage and recalculating the bills.
Fulton says customers concerned about their bills can call the company's customer service.
Dominion Hope serves 116,000 customers in 32 West Virginia counties.
