LOGAN MAN STABS DOCTOR - A Logan County man is accused of stabbing his former employer and running down a firefighter with his pickup truck while trying to get away from the police.
Twenty-seven-year-old Brian Matthew Woodruff is being held at Southwestern Regional Jail on a $250,000 bond.
He's facing malicious wounding, daytime burglary, fleeing and assault during the commission of a crime.
Woodruff broke into the office of his ex-employer, Doctor Ulysses Agas yesterday morning. He then got into an altercation with the doctor over his firing.
Woodruff then stabbed Dr. Agas in the back with a knife.
After police took Woodruff into custody, he allegedly broke out a window in the cruiser, got into his truck and took off. He struck a firefighter who'd been asked to keep an eye on him.
Woodruff was later captured near his home in Chapmanville following a police chase.
Dr. Agas is in stable condition at an area hospital. No word on the firefighter's condition was available.
CHARLESTON'S FIRST 2007 HOMICIDE -
The city of Charleston has recorded its first homicide of 2007.
Forty-three-year-old William Anthony Lee was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with first-degree murder, accused of killing 52-year-old Harry Lee Thompson during a fight.
Charleston police haven't released details of the altercation.
The body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner for autopsy.
Charleston Police said the men had known each other for some time.
